The reality warping psychic Mad Jim Jaspers, from Earth -238, builds The Fury a deadly cybiote programmed to destroy all superhumans but Jim. The Fury is capable of generating incredible energy blasts, adapting its body as well as regenerating lost tissue. Once unleashed on its native Earth, the Fury is able to kill all the heroes except for Captain UK who is able to escape to another reality just as the Fury kills her husband. With Captain UK gone and all the other heroes dead, Jaspers deactivates the Fury.

The Fury is awakened by Jaspers when Captain Britain is sent to Earth-238 by Merlyn. The Fury kills Britain's sidekick and seemingly kills Britain himself. Captain Britain is brought to Otherworld where he is resurrected by Merlyn. When Britain regains life, the Fury can detect him and begins to adapt to inter-dimensional travel, so that it can complete its mission. Just as the Fury is able to cross dimensions, Earth-238 is destroyed in an attempt to kill Jaspers, leaving the Fury stranded on Earth-616.

The Fury is able to kill several of Britain's allies and grows strong enough to incapacitate Britain. It then finds 616 Jim Jaspers and is able to discern that he is not its creator. Which the Fury reasons means that it can kill this Jim Jaspers. The pair battle on equal footing until the Fury teleports them back to the void that was once Earth-238. Jim is unable to rewrite reality in a non-reality space and the Fury incinerates his brain before teleporting back to Earth-616. The Fury is incredibly weakened by the battle and multiple jumps and more easily defeated by the combined might of Captain Britain and Captain UK.

A faux Fury is created by Jamie Braddock and sent to destroy his brother, Captain Britain's, home. This brings this new Fury into contact with the X-Men, who it swiftly defeats at first. The Fury then takes control of Sage's mind and forces her to attack her team mates before Storm frees her by creating an electrical field. Rachel Summers is able to create a small artificial black hole inside the Fury's body, which collapses it into a singularity.

Years later, Jim Jaspers is resurrected in Otherworld and either merges with a Fury or transforms himself into a partial Fury. He then begins to transform the entire Captain Britain Corps into Furies. Unfortunately, the Fury half of Jaspers takes him over and is ultimately defeated by the X-Men.
