Years before any of the Runaways are born, Karolina Dean's parents are exiled from their home planet Majesdane to Earth. While on Earth, they encounter Skrull Prinze De'zean who is set to rule Earth. The Deans interfere with this plan and offer up their home planet to the Skrulls in exchange for Earth. To prove their honesty, they agree that their eldest child will marry De'zean's eldest child, hoping that Dez'ean's child Xavin will die during the conquest of Majesdane.
Fifteen years later, Xavin arrives on Earth to marry Karolina Dean in hopes of ending the war between the Skrulls and Majesdanians. Xavin first appears to Karolina in the form of a human male, even attacking her to try and force the bridal contract. Once the pair are able to speak calmly, Karolina reveals she is not attracted to men and Xavin responds by taking the form of a human female. Xavin is persuasive and the pair return to Majesdane for their wedding.
During the wedding ceremony, the two races cannot keep from breaking out into a fight. Xavin and Karolina barely escape the planet before it is destroyed by the violence. Karolina and Xavin arrive back on Earth just in time to save Nico and Molly Hayes.
The Runaways make a short trip to the past, only to arrive in the present during the height of the Skrull's secret invasion. Xavin attempts a peaceful resolution by knocking out their teammates and attempting to reason with the “religious extremist” Skrulls. This attempt fails and they are informed that the Runaways are targeted for execution. Desperate, Xavin tells Nico to take the other Runaways and hide while Xavin searches for Hulkling. Xavin finds Hulkling and helps him agains Veranke and her Skrull followers, which earns them the brand of traitor.
Xavin continues to adjust to life on Earth and bonds with Molly, though they continue to have slight issues with the other Runaways. Eventually, a group of Majesdanians arrive on Earth in order to arrest Karolina and punish her for the sins of her parents. The Runaways are able to escape the aliens for some time but Xavin realizes that this cannot last forever. In order to save their friends, Xavin knocks Karolina out before kissing her and whispering their undying love. Xavin then shapeshifts into Karolina and surrenders to the Majesdanians.
Xavin is able to eventually earn Karolina's acquittal and reveals themselves to the Light Brigade, joining the Majesdanian military. Xavin rises to the rank of general before Karolina becomes depeleted and in mortal danger. Xavin is able to order the Light Brigade to save Karolina and bring her in for treatment.
