The Upper Clix: Top Storylines to Read for Smash and Destroy

Welcome to the Upper Clix, where we
will take a look at the crème de la crème of Heroclix. Based on
utterly arbitrary and occasionally opaque reasons. This week, in
honor of its release, we're looking at the Top 4 Comic Storylines to
read in order to appreciate Smash and Destroy.
The Immortal Hulk
Hulk. Harpy. Red Harpy. Absorbing Man.
Titania. The Leader. All these characters and more appear the
masterfully crafted story by Al Ewing. A story that deals with the
gamma beings' inability to stay dead for long, this takes some twists
and turns that are sure to shock and delight you. And if you read it,
you're sure to have some new favorites you'd love to see clixed.
Amazing Spider-Man: Hunted
I know, I know. You don't think of
Spider-Man when you think of smashing or destroying. But this
storyline has its fingerprints all over this set. Black Ant,
Taskmaster, Rhino, the Last Sons of Kraven AND Last Son of Kraven
(008a/b), and even Arcade shows up in this interesting take on
Kraven's attempt to cement his legacy.
War of the Realms: Journey into Mystery
A tie-in series for the War of the
Realms event. That features Wonder Man, Miles Morales, Thori, Sindr,
Freyja, Hawkeye (though not his Kooky Quartet version), and Druid. A
bit of a wacky “adventures in babysitting” story featuring
Asgardians and super heroes. But one that makes some choices in the
set list make more sense.
Planet Hulk
One of the quintessential Hulk stories.
For those unaware, this is where Green Scar comes from, this is where
Red King comes from. I'm sure there could have been a few more
characters from this included but at the end of the day...just do
yourself the pleasure of reading Planet Hulk. Whether it's for the
first time or fifth.
And that's it for this installment of The Upper Clix. If you have a category or idea for a future article, feel free to reach out.
Until next time, remember, only the very best comics will do.
