Venom, God of (Red) Symbiotes?

Venom , God of Symbiotes has the following trait:

GOD OF HUNGER: Shape Change, Steal Energy. When Venom, God of Symbiotes uses Steal Energy, instead of healing he may generate a Symbiote bystander [MAX 4].

If I give him the Red Symbiote Equipment:

EFFECT: Blades/Claws/Fangs, Steal Energy. If this character can already use Steal Energy, they instead heal 1 click for each damaged character.

And he hits two characters, can he generate 2 bystanders? Can he generate one bystander and heal one click?

You would choose healing or generate 1 bystander.

It's a little bit of a knot, but the bystander is a trigger based on "using" Steal Energy. The Red Symbiote changes how Steal Energy works, but you're still only using it once (and therefore triggering the symbiote generation once).

So, you choose: generate 1 symbiote or heal (and if you have the Red Symbiote, you could heal more than 1 click).
